Fashion Show 2009

House of Hope’s Fashion Show took place on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the gym on our property.  We had about 280 guests in attendance.  Our show opened with Sara Trollinger, our Founder and President, and Pastor David Uth of First Baptist Church Orlando welcoming our guests and giving the invocation. Marti Salt, our Emcee then started our program.

Our guests were treated to testimonies by two of our residents as well as Mrs. Robin DenBesten and her daughter Gracen.  Klye Thomas also performed one of his favorite songs.

We then enjoyed a luncheon of  a delicious Southwestern salad served in a pita bowl prepared by the Omelette Chef.  The food was donated by Fresh Point and Freshfield Farms.

We were then treated to a fun and entertaining Fashion Show, with Fashions provided by Dillard’s.  Thanks to Freeman Decorating our residents and volunteer models were able to walk down a professional runway. They also had wonderful photographs taken by Triangle Reprographics and Catchlight Studios.

Our edible chocolate shoe centerpieces were a hit with our audience as was our live and silent auction.

This year’s show was definitely the most successful yet.  Not only was it a financial help to the ministry with operating funds, we also raised enough donations to purchase each resident an outfit. We were also excited to know that over half of our attendees were “new” to House of Hope.  Friend raising is always important to us here at House of Hope.

We were also excited to welcome as models three representatives of a basketball franchise that will be starting up in Orlando next year.  It is called Florida Flight .  This new team has chosen House of Hope as their charity of choice.  These men are great role models for our residents and already have been involved in several of our events. We appreciate their dedication and commitment to our organization.

Thank you to Jennifer Coon, Debbie Hall and Karin Combs for their help with the show.  Due to the hard work of these ladies, along with Karen Sams our auction chair and Tania Mark are decorations chair we  experienced a wonderful and successful fashion show.

The event closed with Sara Trollinger presenting Margaret Stokes and Stephanie Beaty with red roses for their leadership with this event.

Approximately 30 members of Summit Church came to the campus on Saturday February 13, 2009 to assist with various work projects. We are blessed to have groups from Summit come out and do projects every 3 months to help with the beautification and upkeep of our 10 acre campus. Summit also participates directly with the teenagers by providing fun activities throughout the year.

House of Hope Orlando gives thanks to Summit Church for taking such a visible step out into the community and being a wonderful blessing.

Home Depot Grant

In September we were blessed to receive a grant from the Home Depot. Gladys Carpenter, the project manager from Home Depot led a team of Home Depot employees to erect a 200 ft. fence, re-do a kitchen, and work on numerous landscaping projects. Five Home depot employees participated with us. These employees donated their day off to help with our work day.

We want to thank Home Depot for all their support and help!
