FAQ's

Q: Are there requirements for parents whose teens are in the program?
A: Every parent must attend parenting every Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Visiting hours are on Sundays 3:00 to 5:00 pm. We also require weekly counseling sessions.

Q: What do I need to bring with me when bringing my teen to House of Hope to attend the program?
A:
Bring your first month’s support payment, initial school payment of $70, $60 for school shirts, and your child’s first month’s allowance $25 in lower denomination bills on your intake date.

You will also need the following papers:

  • Certified Birth Certificate (original or certified copy)
  • Social Security Card (original- child & parent)
  • Driver's License (child & parent)
  • Original Custody Papers (if applicable) & any amendments to date.
  • Court Order (if applicable)
  • Physical Exam Results
  • Copy of school records (transcript, grades, etc.)
  • Completed School History Sheet
  • Psychological/Psychiatric Evaluations

If you have any missing documents, the intake will be rescheduled.

IMPORTANT- IF FOR SOME REASON YOU CANNOT ACQUIRE THE LEGAL DOCUMENTS OR SCHOOL INFORMATION NEEDED FOR INTAKE LET US KNOW PRIOR TO THE DAY OF YOUR INTAKE!!! 

Q: Does my teen need to have a physical before entering the program?
A:
Every child is required to have a complete physical examination by a licensed physician including an eye exam and a lice check (within 10 days of intake). A written statement from the physician is required.

Every child must have these tests and results: Herpes, VDRL, HIV, TB, THROAT CULTURE, and HEPATITIS. A Pregnancy, PAP Smear & GC Smear required for girls. HRS 680 A, B or C form (immunizations) must be provided at intake. We cannot accept copies, we must have the original.

Q: Who will contact me when a spot opens up for my teen?
A:
The counselor assigned to you at your initial interview will set-up your intake date and time.

Q: Are there educational fees?
A:
There is a $70 fee due upon entering the program (at intake) and each month following intake to cover educational materials for your child.

Q: What are my financial obligations going to be?
A: We will need you to bring copies of the last two years of your tax return form, current copy of pay stub, drivers license, and social security cards into meet with one of our administrators. At that time one of our administrators will review your forms and call you to discuss your financial support commitment for your child.

Q: How long will my teen be in the program?
A: House of Hope is a 12-18 month residential program.

Q: How do I get my teen into the program?
A: The first step is to call House of Hope. At that time we will do an initial telephone interview. After the telephone interview, we conduct an on campus interview with the family. At that time we decide what the best option is for the family. We will assign you a counselor for non-residential counseling or, if there is availability, start the intake process for the residential program. (If there is no availability your child will be put on a waiting list.)

Volunteers have been the foundation of House of Hope Orlando since the very first day.  In the beginning volunteers filled almost every position.   Today volunteers are relied on to fill most areas of ministry.  Without you we would not be able to continue.
